The 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Carbon isn’t just a car—it’s a whole experience. When I drove this awesome machine for a week, I was blown away by its agility, lightness, and responsiveness. This final run of twin-turbo V-6 Quadrifoglio models for the United States makes it a rare gem that car enthusiasts will absolutely love.

This 4 door is a beast under the hood. It packs a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that cranks out 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Teamed with an 8-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain is seriously thrilling. With a top speed nearly hitting 150 MPH, this unexpected four-door sedan delivers a heart-pounding ride that had me grinning non-stop. There were so many moments when I couldn’t believe what I was seeing on the speedometer.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio Carbon is super cool because it’s loaded with carbon fiber. The hood, rocker panels, rear spoiler, and gloss black mirrors are all carbon fiber, giving the car a really sleek and aggressive look and keeping it super lightweight. Inside, you’ve got more carbon fiber accents paired with black Sparco leather and Alcantara race seats. These seats are comfy and offer great support, so you’ll stay in place when you’re taking on tight corners and winding roads.

An absolute blast to drive.

The Pirelli tires and Brembo high-performance brakes give amazing grip and stopping power, making you feel totally in control when you push the car to its limits. The dual-mode quad exhaust adds to the experience with a sweet growl that makes every acceleration feel like a win. It’s so easy to get carried away on the freeway; next thing you know, you’re cruising at speeds that would make your passengers grip their seats a little tighter.

However, as incredible as the Giulia Quadrifoglio Carbon is, it’s not without its flaws. At $91,000, it’s definitely playing in the luxury league. It’s great in terms of performance and style, but it lacks some tech features. No 360-degree camera and no wireless CarPlay? Seems like missed chances for a car at this level. The infotainment system does the job, but a bigger screen would make life easier. And that volume knob placement? Kind of awkward. Plus, those flashy oversized paddle shifters can make it tricky to reach other controls without accidentally shifting gears.

It has some small downsides, but it’s still one of the coolest sports sedans.

I give the Giulia Quadrifoglio Carbon a 9 out of 10. Its sleek design and extraordinary performance make it easy to overlook the few imperfections. This car moves like a graceful, fire-breathing beast, delivering a driving experience that’s both classy and super exciting. It’s a fantastic car that really stands out, not just because it’s rare but because it’s pure fun to drive. If you can afford it, this car is totally worth it—a real masterpiece from Alfa Romeo that anyone lucky enough to drive will remember fondly.

The Good, the Bad, and the Stylish: Breaking Down the 2024 Fiat 500e

The Fiat 500e is a fun drive with a few flaws.

The 2024 Fiat 500e Inspired By Beauty is a charming electric vehicle (EV) that aims to combine style, sustainability, and urban practicality into one package. With a price tag of $36,000, this compact EV enters a competitive market, bringing a distinct Italian flair that sets it apart from other electric offerings. As a long-time fan of Fiats and a usual driver of a Hummer H2, this was a fun yet eye-opening experience as I delved into the world of small, electric cars.

Starting with the exterior, the Rose Gold color is undoubtedly eye-catching, exuding an air of sophistication and modernity. The 17-inch x 7.0-inch Aluminum Multi-Spoke Wheels and 205/45R17 All-Season Tires complement the look, giving it a stylish yet practical edge. This is a car that turns heads but doesn’t scream for attention. It’s a perfect example of the understated elegance that Fiat is known for.

Inside, the Fiat 500e continues to impress with its Cream-colored interior featuring vegan leather and the FIAT logo stitched into the seats. Though the design feels premium, it might appeal to some people’s tastes. The front seats are surprisingly comfortable and spacious for such a small car, offering enough room for most drivers and passengers. However, the rear seats are less accommodating—adults will find the space tight, which is something to consider if you plan on regularly driving with more than one passenger. With such a great-shaped roof, it is a shame there are no glass or sunroof options. Heated seats are a nice feature, but cooled seats would be more useful in Texas. I wish this option was available in more vehicles, not just this one.

The Uconnect 5 Nav system, featuring a 10.25-inch Touch Screen Display, is a letdown.

While the interface is intuitive and the display clear, the screen size feels undersized, especially given the potential for a more expansive, vertically oriented screen. In a car like this, which has ample dashboard space, a larger screen would have significantly improved the driving experience, especially when navigating through busy city streets or using various apps. Moreover, the placement of the drive buttons needs to be more comfortable and convenient, adding to the minor annoyances of the overall layout.

My least favorite common feature on vehicles is the lane steering assist, which whips your car when you don’t use a signal to change lanes. This is the first feature I always disable, and finding it on the Fiat was so difficult. I found it as a hidden button on the side of the blinker lever. Also, I would have added two features to this Fiat: a powered tailgate and a 360 camera. I am starting to get accustomed to these features, which are standard in most vehicles.

The 500e features a 117-hp electric motor that provides an enjoyable driving experience in city conditions.

With a range of 120 miles, it is suitable for daily commutes and short journeys. However, in real-world situations, such as aggressive driving or adverse weather, the range may decrease to around 100 miles. The 500e offers three driving modes—Normal, Range, and Sherpa—that adjust the car’s behavior to enhance efficiency. Sherpa mode is the most aggressive, optimizing range by cutting A/C and other features. While the ride quality is firm, the cabin remains pleasantly quiet at lower speeds, resulting in a comfortable experience for urban driving. However, when the Texas heat starts soaking into the car, expect the A/C to start making a high screaming sound.

Despite its quirks, the 2024 Fiat 500e has its charms. The limited driving range, small rear seat, and stiff ride quality are drawbacks, but they are counterbalanced by the car’s maneuverability, stylish design, and affordability. Charging infrastructure still remains a concern for me, especially in places like Houston, where unreliable charging stations are common.

Verdict

Overall, I’d rate the Fiat 500e a 7 out of 10. It’s adorable and fashionable and fulfills its mission as a nimble, affordable city EV. However, to stand out in the growing EV market, it could benefit from more advanced tech features, a better interior layout, and world-improving charging options.

A Week of Thrills and Luxury In The 2024 Lexus LC 500 Convertible

My adventures with the 2024 Lexus LC 500 Convertible.

For a week, I had the pleasure of driving the 2024 Lexus LC 500 Convertible, an unforgettable experience as Mayor of Nerdtropolis. From Houston to San Antonio, where I hosted celebrity panels at Superhero Comic Con, this luxurious vehicle captivated me with its head-turning design and exceptional blend of power, comfort, and style. My journey started smoothly on I-10, with minimal construction and a must-stop at Buc-ee’s. The LC 500 Convertible made the drive effortless, boasting a comfortable interior, impressive gas mileage, and cooled seats, making even top-up driving enjoyable. However, the trunk space was limited, barely accommodating just a large duffel and a medium bag, which could have been better for longer trips.

Texas’ unpredictable weather made it difficult to enjoy this convertible fully.

Despite rainy weather and high temperatures that challenged the convertible feature in San Antonio, the cooled seats were a relief. We managed a few memorable top-down moments on the River Walk, attracting plenty of attention. Priced at nearly $120,000, the LC 500 is undeniably a stunning luxury convertible. Though bold, the exterior color, Copper Crest, took some time to grow on me. New color options like Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest, paired with a Dark Rose interior (which I wished mine had), are available. While nice, the two-tone white and blue interior felt somewhat mismatched with the exterior. Lexus offers bespoke options that might better suit individual tastes.

The convertible roof operates smoothly at speeds up to 31 mph, with a clear multi-information display showing its progress and status. It takes about 15 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close, impressively quick for its class. The operation is quiet, maintaining a seamless look when closed. Performance-wise, the LC 500 Convertible is a powerhouse, effortlessly overtaking on the highway with its 5.0L V8 engine producing 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. The Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission delivers seamless, rapid gear changes, enhanced by the enjoyable paddle shifters. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 168 mph.

The sound pipe system amplifies the engine’s roar, making driving with the top down an exhilarating experience. The LC 500 Convertible is not just about performance and luxury, it also prioritizes safety. Features like the Pre-Collision System, which uses radar and camera technology to detect potential collisions, proved invaluable during aggressive braking on my return trip, providing a sense of security and peace of mind.

Verdict

I rate the 2024 Lexus LC 500 Convertible 9/10. Its V8 engine and luxurious features make every drive a joy. I’m eagerly anticipating what Lexus will unveil in the next generation of this remarkable vehicle. It’s a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

When comparing the 2024 Ford Maverick XLT Tremor and the 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SRW 4×4 Crew Cab Lariat with the Tremor package, it’s clear that Ford has catered to two distinct types of truck enthusiasts. While embodying the Tremor badge and its off-road prowess, both trucks serve different purposes and excel in their own domains.

2024 Ford Maverick XLT Tremor

The Ford Maverick has long been a favorite of mine, especially as the smallest truck on the market. It defies its compact size by offering a surprisingly spacious interior and bed, making it feel more like a full-fledged pickup rather than a compact car with a bed. This latest Tremor edition builds on that foundation with the added benefit of off-road capabilities. Under the hood, the Maverick XLT Tremor packs a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, delivering a peppy 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensures that the Maverick is not just nimble but also capable of easily handling various terrains.

What stands out about the Maverick Tremor is its functionality in urban environments. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it’s incredibly easy to zip around in. Parking, even in tight city spots, is a breeze. The interior, while economical, is well-suited for its target audience—those looking for practicality and efficiency. The off-road enhancements, such as the twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock and five selectable drive modes, make it a versatile choice for city dwellers with a penchant for weekend adventures.

The Tremor package adds unique front and rear springs and shocks, a 1-inch increase in ride height, and off-road-oriented features like Trail Control, which acts like cruise control for off-road driving. The aesthetic upgrades, including a unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos, and Tremor Orange accents, also make it stand out visually.

2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SRW 4×4 Crew Cab Lariat Tremor

On the opposite end of the spectrum is the 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SRW 4×4 Crew Cab Lariat with the Tremor package. This behemoth is the most enormous truck I have ever driven, and its sheer size initially intimidates me. However, familiarity breeds comfort, especially for someone used to driving a Hummer H2.

The F-250 is a powerhouse designed for those who need serious capability. It features a range of engine options, including a standard 6.8-liter V8 and a new high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8, catering to those who require maximum towing and payload capacity. The 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is standard across the lineup, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery.

Despite its size, maneuvering the F-250 in city environments wasn’t as challenging as expected. Thanks to Ford’s advanced driver-assist technologies like the 360-degree Trailer Camera System, Blind Spot Information System for Fifth Wheel & Gooseneck, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, parking and navigating tight spaces have become much more manageable. Combined with the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, these features make driving this massive truck surprisingly stress-free.

The F-250 Tremor is built for heavy-duty tasks, with capabilities that far surpass those of the Maverick. Its Pro Power Onboard system can power a job site or a campsite, and the new Upfit Integration System allows for the easy addition of specialized equipment. This truck is all about productivity and power, ensuring that it can handle anything from construction work to hauling large trailers.

Both trucks represent two extremes of the truck market.

The Maverick is perfect for those who need a compact, versatile truck that’s easy to drive in the city yet capable enough for off-road adventures. In contrast, the F-250 is for those who require a robust, heavy-duty vehicle with unparalleled towing and payload capacities, making it ideal for demanding work environments. Both trucks proudly carry the Tremor badge, offering unique benefits catering to different drivers’ needs. Whether you prefer the nimbleness of the Maverick or the sheer power of the F-250, Ford’s Tremor lineup ensures there’s a truck to match your lifestyle.

After my exhilarating experience with the Dark Horse Mustang, I was eager to get back behind the wheel of a Mustang. The 2024 Mustang GT Convertible Premium, built on the new S650 platform, promised to be an exciting ride. Despite the dreary forecast, I was excited to spend time with this convertible beauty. When the car arrived, I was greeted by ominous rain clouds. But that didn’t dampen my spirits. I dropped the top and embarked on my adventure. The open-air experience, with the exhaust roaring against the city buildings, was nothing short of euphoric. The handling and performance of this machine were top-notch, making every drive a thrilling experience.

Beneath the hood of this Mustang lies the powerful Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine.

It boasts an impressive output of 486 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 418 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 rpm. Despite its impressive power, it is still efficient, consuming premium fuel at 14 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway. This Mustang is engineered for performance, featuring Pirelli P-Zero summer tires, a 3.73 rear axle, and a Brembo brake system. Additionally, the optional MagneRide adjustable dampers offer a smooth and agile ride, while the quad-tip valved performance exhaust adds a symphony to every drive.

The 13.4-inch screen is the dominant feature of the dashboard and displays clear graphics with rapid responses. The Sync 4 interface enables access to various performance data, enhancing the driving experience. As the first Texan to experience this remarkable vehicle, I was eager to test it and see if it lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it did and exceeded my expectations. Let’s begin with the exterior. With a perfect 10 rating, the Dark Horse demands attention with its striking Vapor Blue Metallic paint job and aggressive stance. It features LED projector headlamps, sequential taillights, and unique grilles that give it a menacing yet sophisticated look, making it an attention-grabber wherever you go.

Pleasantly surprised by the comfort and attention to detail in the cockpit.

Although the interior scored an 8 due to its simplicity, it still impressed with its Recaro seats, which offered excellent support during spirited drives. Ambient lighting and customizable gauge cluster themes, including a nod to the classic ’87 Fox Body, add a touch of personalization to the driving experience. But let’s talk about what really matters: performance. With a Coyote V-8 engine roaring under the hood, delivering a whopping 500 horsepower, the Dark Horse doesn’t just talk the talk—it walks the walk. Paired with a slick 6-speed manual transmission and dual-throttle-body intakes, this pony car gallops from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, leaving competitors in the dust.

Driving the Dark Horse is an absolute thrill.

Whether cruising on the highway or tearing up the track, the Mustang handles with precision and confidence. The rev-match feature makes gear shifts seamless, while the active exhaust system allows you to tailor the soundtrack to your mood. And with track mode engaged, the car truly comes alive, delivering an auditory symphony that’s music to any petrolhead’s ears. Of course, performance isn’t just about straight-line speed. The Dark Horse shines in the corners, thanks to its responsive steering and well-tuned suspension. Although the sticky tires provide plenty of grip, there’s still a hint of excitement as the car dances on the edge of adhesion, reminding you of its untamed nature.

In terms of value, the Dark Horse Premium provides excellent value for money. With a starting price of $62,180, it’s competitive in its class. However, the cost may increase with added options and features, and dealers may charge extra. Nonetheless, this pony car offers a lot of smiles for the money, especially if you buy it at MSRP. The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Premium is a genuine thoroughbred. With its stunning looks, blistering performance, and unbeatable value, it’s a must-have for anyone who craves excitement behind the wheel. So saddle up because once you experience the thrill of the Dark Horse, you’ll never want to ride anything else.

I recently had the pleasure of test-driving a V8 Dodge Charger for seven days, and while bidding adieu to it was bittersweet, the anticipation for its electric successor, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, is growing palpable.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the 2023 Charger Super Bee Special Edition. It epitomized the brute force and traditional charm of the muscle car lineage. Powered by a 6.4L V8 SRT engine, the Super Bee exuded raw energy, producing 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, which thrilled the senses. However, despite its formidable powertrain, the Super Bee felt outdated. It needed a refresh both inside and out. The interior, though comfortable, lacked modernity, while the exterior, boasting a cool B5 blue hue and iconic Super Bee name, begged for a contemporary touch.

But as the automotive landscape evolves, so too does the Charger. Enter the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, the world’s first electric muscle car, poised to revolutionize the genre. With up to 670 horsepower and a blistering 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, the Daytona Scat Pack promises to uphold the Charger’s legacy as the fastest and most powerful muscle car on the planet.

The transition to electric power doesn’t diminish the Charger’s performance prowess but amplifies it.

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack enters a new phase of performance with its thrilling powertrain options. It comes with a 400V propulsion system that provides an impressive 670 horsepower, making it possible to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. In the world of sports cars, few names inspire as much respect and excitement as the Nissan Z series. With its latest model, the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo, the Japanese automaker continues its tradition of providing high-octane performance and race-ready dynamics. As an ardent admirer of the Z legacy, I eagerly got behind the wheel of the Nismo edition. I was once again expecting a thrilling experience that lives up to its iconic heritage, and in many ways, it delivers exactly that.

Where the iconic sports car truly shines is in its performance.

The Z Nismo is a high-performance car with an impressive 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. That is thanks to its twin-turbo engine. The Nismo edition is a true powerhouse that accelerates with great force, putting the Z Nismo in a class of its own. The car is incredibly composed and precise, whether you’re driving in a straight line or maneuvering through tight corners. I really like the aggressive tires, which offer a more sticky grip than expected and make for an exciting driving experience. The transmission upgrades are also noteworthy, especially the introduction of Sport+ mode, which takes driving pleasure to new heights. The nine-speed automatic transmission shifts lightning-fast and offers responsive handling, allowing you to fully enjoy the engine’s capabilities. The boost kicking in around fifth gear feels like a journey into outer space, and despite spirited driving, I was able to maintain 24 MPG.

Performance Rating 10/10

It proudly wears its badges.

The Nismo badge signifies a higher level of capability and a design focused on track performance, which I hope to experience one day. Its assertive and aerodynamically refined look easily catches attention on the road. Every exterior detail, from the striking “Grand-Nose” styling to the imposing rear spoiler, enhances both performance and visual appeal. Subtle red accents give it a touch of sophistication, while the katana-blade styling element adds to its menacing profile. Essentially, the exterior design of the Z Nismo blends aggression with aerodynamic finesse and style with performance efficiency. Additionally, the car’s sharp appearance turns heads wherever it goes, and whenever I took it out for a spin, I received numerous compliments. The car’s stance is particularly striking, but the most captivating aspect of this two-door beauty is its rear.

Exterior Rating: 10/10

While the exterior of the Nismo leaves a lasting impression, the same cannot be said for its interior.

As I entered the Nissan Z cabin, I was disappointed by its simplicity, which is a common trait in Nissan Z models. The cabin lacks next-generation interior features, which is quite unfortunate. Although the Nismo variant features Recaro seats, which initially suggest a commitment to racing lifestyle synonymous with Nismo cars, I found them to be outdated upon closer inspection. The adjustment knobs on the seats were cumbersome and hindered comfort and usability. The interior design lacks flair. It is dominated by black plastic and recycled elements from the previous generation. Apart from the Recaro seats, there is very little to excite within the cabin. As the clock struck midnight, I found myself behind the wheel of the bold and beautiful 2023 Lexus LX 600 F Sport, ready to welcome the New Year with a stylish drive to the casinos in Lake Charles. Over the next seven days, I enjoyed experiencing this super luxury SUV from every angle, exploring its strengths, quirks, and everything in between.

Bold in Black: The VIP Look

As I walked past the Lexus LX 600 F Sport, the sleek black exterior immediately caught my eye and exuded a VIP aura. However, I noticed that the bold color choice masks some of the intricate lines of this luxury SUV. Nonetheless, as I drove through the city streets, the LX 600 turned heads with its commanding presence.

Spacious, Yet a Bit Cramped: Cockpit Quirks

The car’s spacious interior provided enough room for passengers, but the cockpit felt a bit cramped for individuals over 6’1″. The red F Sport interior added a sharp touch to the car, and the suede accents on the side pillars were a nice detail. However, some buttons behind the steering wheel needed to be more conveniently placed, making them challenging to reach. The cargo space of the car felt minimal when the third-row seat was up, but once folded down, it revealed a generous storage area. This feature is practical for those trips where luggage space is a must.

Although I was satisfied with the vehicle’s interior, I found the infotainment system to need improvement. The dual-screen configuration felt outdated, and a single, larger screen similar to the Tundra’s would have been a more sophisticated and stylish choice. Additionally, the placement of certain buttons, particularly those located behind the steering wheel, could have been more user-friendly. Considering the price range of this vehicle, I was expecting a more advanced and user-intuitive technology suite. Also, the placement of the mode select position and start button could be improved as they seem reversed, and the shift knob was not as refined as expected for a vehicle of this caliber.

The cool box in the middle console was useful as it kept our drinks cold and refreshing during the journey. However, the side steps are too narrow and proved quite pointless as my fiancé slipped twice while trying to use them. Additionally, the placement of the phone charger was not optimal for modern smartphones, making it a bit inconvenient.

Powerful, but a Dash Expected More.

The 3.4L Twin-Turbo V6 engine provided impressive power, but the F Sport version was not as good as the Grand Highlander’s Hybrid Max engine. The acceleration was good, but I expected more power from an F Sport model with 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. While driving, I had the pleasure of experiencing the handling capabilities of the Lexus LX 600 F Sport. It handled with ease and provided a smooth and nimble ride. What stood out to me was its ride height adjustability, allowing easy adaptation to different driving environments. This feature made the vehicle even more versatile and practical. The F Sport Handling model offers a more athletic appearance with its exclusive 22-inch forged alloy wheels and F SPORT tuned suspension. The driving experience is made more exciting with performance upgrades like the Torsen Limited Slip Differential and rear stabilizer.

During longer drives, the Lexus LX 600 F Sport tended to consume more fuel despite being comfortable. While the Eco mode delivered only 16.4 MPG on the highway from Houston to Lake Charles, the rear passengers thoroughly enjoyed the climate control and ventilated seats, making the journey more pleasant. The technology package that came with the vehicle had a wide range of features, including a Head-Up Display and a Panoramic View Monitor. However, the absence of a video rearview mirror in a vehicle that costs so much felt like a missed opportunity.

The 2023 Lexus LX 600 F Sport is a luxurious and powerful vehicle that stands out on the road. Despite its high price tag of $108k and a few issues with technology and interior layout, the driving experience is undeniably enjoyable. Whether you’re driving around the city or embarking on a longer journey, the LX 600 F Sport offers a luxurious and performance-oriented experience, making it a strong contender among super luxury SUVs.
