2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited 4XE Review: A Stunning EV Held Back by Range Anxiety

Is the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited 4XE Texas-Ready?

The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited 4XE is one of the sharpest-looking electric SUVs to hit the market. It doesn’t scream “EV” the way many competitors do. Instead, it delivers a premium, modern look that blends rugged confidence with upscale styling. The Bright White exterior, paired with a black roof and a Global Black interior, is a knockout combination. The 20-inch aluminum wheels complete the look.

We first sampled the Wagoneer S at the TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo, where it immediately caught our attention. Getting a whole week behind the wheel gave us a chance to test it in real-world conditions, and the experience confirmed a lot of what we liked initially.

One more thing: the wife had zero complaints. No eye-rolls. No motion sickness. Nothing. She said flat-out that if she ever had to buy an EV, this would be the one.

EV Reality Check

As good as it looks and drives, the biggest hurdle remains the range. Jeep lists about 280 miles, which may be enough for many drivers but falls short of what Texans realistically need.

In Houston, long-distance driving is part of daily life. At a starting price just under $67,000, the Wagoneer S should deliver at least 350 miles of range. That should be the minimum for any EV in this price bracket. Think about it: would anyone tolerate an ICE vehicle with under 300 miles per tank? Not a chance.

Our press vehicle also arrived without a home charger, which complicated planning. Thankfully, we had access to a Level 2 charger at the office and pulled in about 40 percent during the workday. Helpful, but not ideal.

Interior Comfort and Tech

Inside, the Wagoneer S Limited hits premium territory. The panoramic sunroof makes the cabin feel larger, and the materials match the price tag. The seats are comfortable, heated, ventilated, and slightly bolstered for support. Both front seats offer power adjustments.

The rear seating area is exceptionally spacious, earning immediate praise from the wife. Legroom and headroom are generous, and the cabin feels open and airy. The overall cockpit layout is clean and high-end, with customizable accent lighting that adds a slick, modern touch.

Jeep also boasts a standard 12.3-inch Uconnect5 touchscreen, which is quick and intuitive, but the yoke-style steering wheel can block part of the infotainment knobs depending on your driving position. The camera system deserves a shout-out. It’s crisp, high quality, and one of the better implementations in this segment.

Cargo space is huge, with room for road-trip essentials and then some. The frunk is smaller at around four cubic feet, but it’s sealed and useful for small items.

Performance on the Road

Performance is where the Wagoneer S Limited shines. The dual-motor setup provides instant torque and standard all-wheel drive. Acceleration is strong enough to surprise passengers, and the cabin remains whisper-quiet even at higher speeds.

The Jeep-exclusive Selec-Terrain system offers five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Eco. It’s a nice confidence booster for an EV transitioning into a Jeep-branded product. Regenerative braking felt too aggressive for our taste, so we turned it off for a smoother drive.

Perhaps the biggest win? No motion sickness for the wife. EVs often cause discomfort for passengers, but the Wagoneer S remained smooth and controlled throughout the week. Jeep offers more than 170 standard safety and security features, including Drowsy Driver Alert and a full suite of driver-assistance systems.

Final Thoughts

The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited 4XE checks almost every box for a premium electric SUV. It looks fantastic, drives beautifully, and offers a spacious, well-designed cabin. The tech is modern, the performance is exciting, and everyday comfort is excellent — to the point where even a hesitant passenger walked away impressed.

Yet the 280-mile range remains its Achilles’ heel. For Texas drivers, that’s simply not enough. If Jeep can push its range beyond 350 miles, the Wagoneer S could easily become the top EV pick in its segment.

Verdict: 8 out of 10

A stylish, comfortable, and quick electric SUV with tons of promise — held back only by short range in a state that demands more.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
